Common questions about GEO readiness checks.
Does this measure real AI rankings?
No. The checker measures readiness signals and explains evidence. It does not query live AI answers, rank prompts, or claim visibility inside ChatGPT, Google AI features, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, or any answer system.
What does the GEO Readiness Score mean?
The score is a proxy for how easy the inspected public pages are to fetch, understand, verify, and reference. It combines rule checks and structured semantic judgments with fixed weights, so the final number is calculated by code.
Which pages are checked?
The crawler checks the submitted page, robots.txt, sitemap discovery, and a small sample of same-site public URLs. It does not crawl private dashboards, login-only content, checkout flows, paywalled pages, or paths blocked by robots.txt.
What happens if a site has no sitemap?
The report still runs against the submitted URL and shows sitemap discovery as a problem or uncertainty. Missing sitemap data should not crash the report; it simply limits what the checker can inspect.
Does the checker use an LLM?
The scoring model is designed so LLM output can support semantic checks with structured evidence and confidence, but the LLM never sets the total score. If semantic analysis is unavailable or invalid, the report falls back to UNKNOWN-style checks instead of inventing certainty.
Does llms.txt improve Google AI rankings?
Do not treat llms.txt as a Google ranking lever. It can be a supplemental file for some AI or agent systems, but GEOChecker describes it as discoverability support, not a ranking promise.
Can two runs return different scores?
The score should be consistent for the same URL, rule version, accessible pages, and fetched content. Differences can happen when the target site changes, robots.txt changes, sitemap contents change, pages time out, or the server returns different HTML.
What should I fix first?
Fix crawlability, noindex, broken status codes, missing canonical tags, and unreadable HTML before rewriting content. After that, improve entity clarity, direct answers, verifiable facts, structured data, and trust pages.
